Dr. Forrest (Lee) Erlandson

Dr. Forrest (Lee) Erlandson, age 94, passed away on July 30, 2014. He was born on December 17, 1919, and was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Helen R. Yorozu of Seattle, Washington. Her picture also appears in this obituary to commemorate the 54 years they traveled side by side.

Forrest graduated from the University of Minnesota, receiving his Ph.D. degree in Psychology in 1953. He served as a Signal Corps cryptographer in Europe during World War-II. In 1956 he was appointed to the Counseling Center Staff at Michigan State University. Among his various responsibilities were individual and group psychotherapy, industrial and governmental consulting, coordinator of the practicum and intern programs, member of the Counseling Center Executive Committee, and member of the Admissions Committee of the College of Human Medicine He retired as Professor Emeritus on 1/1/1985.

Among the professional organizations in which Dr. Erlandson held memberships were American Psychological Association (including the Divisions of Evaluation and Measurement, Clinical Psychology, Consulting Psychology, and Counseling Psychology. He was a Diplomate of the American Board of Examiners in Professional Psychology, and served as Chairman of an oral examining board. He also served as Chief Field Assessment Officer for two Peace Corps programs that served in Chile, South America.

He is survived by his daughter, Kei E. Snyder of Atlanta, GA, his son, Richard L. Erlandson (Linda L. Carter) of Charlotte, NC, five grandchildren: Garrett Erlandson, Grant Rosekrans, Tyler Rosekrans, Logan Snyder, and Madison Snyder, and a great-grandson, Reid Rosekrans.

According to his wishes, no services will be held. Honoring his memory, contributions may be sent to The Wharton Center for the Performing Arts.
