Enlisted as a Corporal on 11 March 1862 in 14th Light Artillery Regiment Indiana. Promoted to Full 2nd Lieutenant on 16 Feb 1864. Promoted to Full 1st Lieutenant on 3 Mar 1864. Was dismissed 14th Light Artillery Regiment Indiana on 7 Apr 1865.
