Mrs. Payne worked for the housekeeping department at Purdue University for two years and for 13 years, she worked at Farm Bureau Research. She enjoyed cross-stitching, quilting, and crafts.
Surviving are four daughters, Eileen (Mrs. John) Mitchell, Donna (Mrs. Ronald) Kennedy, both of Lafayette, Carol Ann Payne of Mulberry, and Bonnie (Mrs. Mark) Hutsell of Monticello; two brothers, Ralph Feldt of Monticello and Russell Feldt of Lafayette; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
