OBITUARY

Chester Pierce was born in Steuben county, New York, near Janesville, March 7, 1833 and died at the home of his nephew, Thomas Pierce Sunday, November 28th, 1915 aged 8s years, 8 mos. and 19 days.

In early manhood he moved to Lake County Ill., where he was united in marriage with Helen Hastings, to this union were born three children on of whom died in infancy.

In 1859 they moved to Iowa. Here Mrs. Pierce died leaving her husband and two daughters to mourn her departure. One of the daughters, Mrs. Alice E. Schwin, passed away in the year 1896.

For some years he made his home in St. Paul, Minn., but as the weight of the years crept upon him he left there to make his home in Medford, Okla., with his only daughter, Mrs. Nellie E. Strider, who passed to her reward on May 10th, of this year, the body brought back and laid to rest in the East Side Cemetery.

After the loss he came again to Iowa, making his home with his nephew, Thos. A. Pierce.

On Sept. 10th, he met with a sever accident which caused him to be confined to his bed until death released him from his suffering, which came peacefully at five o'clock Sunday afternoon.

Mr. Pierce was the last of his generation to depart this life and leaves to mourn his loss many nieces and nephews, most of whom reside near Marble Rock.

The funeral services were held at the Christian church Tuesday afternoon conducted by Rev. L.W. Inman.
