Obituary from the Edwardsville Intelligencer, Edwardsville, Madison County, Illinois, Saturday, December 7, 1963, page 2:
  William (Riggin) Borst, 62, of Maryville, a section foreman for the Illinois Terminal Railroad for 41 years, died Friday at 6 p.m. at the Missouri Pacific Hospital, St. Louis, where he had been a patient two days.
  Born Feb. 2, 1901 in Hartley, Tex., he was the son of the late Marshall and Martha Riggin Borst. He was married to Sylvia Cline on Feb. 2, 1922 in Edwardsville.
  Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Edgar R. Borst, Rural Route, Troy; one daughter, Mrs. Ernest (Dorothy) Johnson, Maryville; one brother, Henry G. Borst, Stead Air Force Base, Las Vegas, Nev.; three sisters, Mrs. Eva Cline, Collinsville, Mrs. Martha Linenfelser, Alhambra and Mrs. Roy (Ann) Poston, St. Louis. Five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.
  Mr. Borst was secretary for the Brotherhood of American Railway Employees Union for 28 years.
  Friends may call at the Edwards funeral home, Troy after 7 p.m. today until the services Monday at 2 p.m.  The Rev. Richard Dillender, pastor of the Maryville Baptist church, will officiate. Interment will be in Friedens cemetery, Troy.
