MRS. WILLIE LEE McCLUNG DIES AFTER LONG ILLNESS
Passed Away at Home of Her Daughter, Mrs. H. P. Funderburk, Monday Morning.
Mrs. Willie Lee McClung died at the home of her daughter,
Mrs. II. P. Funderburk, No. 718 South Ninth avenue, about five o'clock Monday morning her death having followed an illness of several weeks' duration. She was taken sick nearly a month ago, and not withstanding the fact that she had the attention of a trained nurse and a skilled physician
her malady stubbornly refused to yield to treatment, and she grew gradually weaker until the end came.
Mrs. McClung, who was in her sixty-fourth year, was a member
of an old and aristocratic family, having been n lineal descendant of the great Southern chieftain,Gen. Robert E. Lee. Her parents moved from South Carolina to Pickens county, Ala., some time before the outbreak of the civil war, and the greater part of Mrs. McClung's life was spent
there. Several years ago she came to Columbus with her
daughters, and during her residence in Columbus had made
countless friends, her kind heart and affable manners having endeared her to all with whom she came in contact.
Mrs. McClung is survived by her husband, Mr. A. K. McClung
one son, Mr. James McClung, and three daughters, Mesdames
H. P. Funderburk and Oscar Quinn of this city, and Mrs.
Trice Johnson of Tuscaloosa, Ala. The Commercial joins the
numerous friends of the family in extending sympathy in their bereavement The funeral occurred at the Funderburk home on South Ninth avenue at ten o'clock Tuesday morning, having been conducted by Rev. W. W. Woolard, pastor of the First Methodist church, who was assisted bv Rev. J. B. Lawrence, pastor of the First Baptist church. Interment was at Friendship cemetery.
