MRS. CARL CAYCE DIES AT FATHER'S HOME
CALLED HERE BY HIS ILLNESS
LEAVES HAMMOND, TEXAS, IN POOR HEALTH---NUMEROUS FRIENDS ARE SORROW STRICKEN AT YOUNG MATRON'S DEMISE
All of Columbus was saddened by the death of Mrs. Carl Cayce which occurred at the home of her parents, Judge and Mrs. Newnan Cayce, on the Highlands, on last Thursday night. It has not been a year since this sweet young woman was married to Mr. Carl Cayce, of Hammond, Texas, where she has since resided. her health had not been good for some time, but her condition was not considered serious, and in response to news of her father's illness, Judge Cayce, she came about two weeks ago, though quite feeble, to be at his bedside. The trip however, was too much for her strength and she gradually grew worse until the end.
Beautiful in character, sweet and gentle in manner, she was loved by all who knew her, and though she is no longer among us her noble examples will alway (sic) live.
The funeral was held at the family residence on Friday afternoon, conducted by Rev. T. W. Lewis, and his eulogy on this pure life was full of sincerity and sadness. The services were unusually solemn to the many friends who were present with hearts overflowing with love and sympathy for the bereaved.
After a short service the beloved form was carried to the family burying ground just west of the home, where in deep silence it was tenderly and beautifully laid to rest, and handsome floral offerings covered the mound.
To the father and mother, the husband and two sisters, Mrs. Dorsey and Miss Lillian Cayce, true heartfelt sympathy is extended.
The pall bearers were, Messrs. Charley Sherrod, Sr., Sid Street, Sr., Geo. Thomas, A. A. Breast, J. I. Guyton and Irvin Kaufman.
Flower committee, Mrs. Tom Locke, Jr., Miss Mary Ita Sherman, Miss Annie Lee Senter and Miss Mamie Sue Sherrod.
