OBITUARY
Hiram H. Hill

Hiram H. Hill died at his home in this city [Austin, MN], 1506 East Bryant street, at 3:45 this morning following a four day's illness of pnemonia. Mr. Hill had not been strong for four or five years, and a number of times he was in the local or Minneapolis hospital for treatment. Tuesday evening he returned from his work at the Packing house ill. Pneumonia developed and its work was short. Both of his boys had been in the service, and his son Louis he had not yet seen. On Thursday Louis came from Minneapolis and joy filled the father's heart as he clasped his son exclaiming, "Oh my boy, my boy." After the greeting he failed rapidly and never spoke understandingly again.

Hiram Hill was born in Clifton Springs, N.Y. on December 10, 1852. When eighteen years of age he came west and settled in Minnesota. Thirty-five years ago [1884] he was married to Nettie Smith in Austin, who with six children survive him: Mrs. Julia Elwell and Mrs. Mary Byers both of Minneapolis, Mrs. Anna Tabor [sic, should be Tobar] of Austin and Mrs. Ida Padgett of Anacostes, Washington, William of Austin and Louis of Minneapolis.

He was a member of the Baptist church and a man who was well liked by all who knew him.

He leaves one brother Louis, sixteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

[Austin Daily Herald, Sat., 9 August 1919, p. 8, col. 3]
