Ralph H. Clement, 86, of Little Rock, died peacefully in his sleep on July 31, 2014 after a long struggle with Lewy Body Dementia and Dysphagia. Known to be a loving husband and devoted father who could always ask a good, probing question, Dad retired after 36 years from Arkansas State Plant Board (former Director of the Division of Seed). He was a WWII Veteran and retired Colonel in the US Army Reserves. Dad was a 1945 graduate of Wright High School and a first generation college graduate, receiving his Agriculture Degree from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville in 1952. He also graduated from the Command and General Staff College of the US Army in 1971.

Survivors are his wife of 62 years, Mary Kraeszig Clement; son, Thomas Ray Clement (Tanya); daughter, Rebecca Sullivan (Charley); sister, Betty Hartwick; granddaughters, Shannon Sullivan Erlewine (Shawn) of Flower Mound, TX and Sara Sullivan; grandsons, David Clement and Stephen Clement of Fayetteville; great-grandsons, Ethan and Elliot Erlewine; and numerous nieces and nephews including Sue Pyland and Brenda Riley. The family wishes to thank the many caregivers who cared for Ralph during his illness.

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Henry and Jessie Mae Smith Clement, and one sister, Jane Hall.

The visitation will be from 5:00 – 6:00 P.M., Sunday, August 3, 2014 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 1321 S. Van Buren St, Little Rock, AR 72204, (501) 666-5073. The Rosary will follow at 6:00 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church at 10:00 A.M., Monday, August 4, 2014. Private interment will follow at Clement Cemetery near Grapevine, AR in Grant County.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice in lieu of flowers.
