Carolyn Blackmon passed away suddenly at her home in Lexington on February 8, 2006. She was 57 and had lived in Lexington most of her life. She was born on January 15, 1949 in Brazos County, Texas to Alexander Cecil and Vada Merle (Taylor) Wilson. She and Gail Blackmon were married on December 6, 1968 in Lexington.

Funeral services were held at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale on February 13, 2006 with Rev. Reuel Cooper, Rev. Michael Luce and Rev. Chuck Salmon officiating. Burial was in the Lexington Cemetery. Pallbearers were Britt Reat, Chris Reat, Barry Benbow, Steven Wilson, Andy Awalt and Matt Thiem. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Gayla Jean Blackmon, her father, and a brother, Hugh Bruce Byrne.

She is survived by her husband Gail of Lexington, son Jason Blackmon of Lexington, daughter, Dana Blackmon of Waco; mother, Merle Wilson of College Station; brother, David Wilson and wife Brenda of Taylor; sisters, Martha Reat and husband Bruce of Lexington, Janice Benbow and husband George of Luling, Ann Lee of Fairfield and Beth Ann Williams and husband Harvey of Hallettsville; 1 grandchild, Kendall Blackmon of Waco.

Carolyn was a member of First Baptist Church of Lexington and a graduate of Lexington High School. She was active in Eastern Star and was Past Matron of Lexington and Rockdale Eastern Star and Past D.G. of District 4 Section 8. She had been a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader and was a past member of Young Homemakers Association of Lexington.
