Henry Champagne Barnum, 84, of Claire Hill Road, Burlington, beloved husband of sixty-four years to the late Lucia "Lucy" DiPietro Barnum, died peacefully on Friday, July 25, 2014 at his home with his family by his side.

He was born January 28, 1930 in Middletown, son of the late Norman and Harriett (Champagne) Barnum, and had lived in Burlington for over sixty years.

He served in the U.S. Navy and was a painter for the Bristol Housing Authority for many years prior to his retirement.

Henry was passionate about spending time with his family, his life and meeting new people.

His hobbies included motorcycles, horseshoes, fishing, and cycling.

He was a member of the Terryville Polish Club, Bristol Polish Club, the Meriden Motorcycle Club, and the Bristol McDonald's Senior Breakfast Group.

He is survived by his four children, Sharon Wilbur and her husband, Dwinal, of New Hartford, Henry "Sam" Barnum and his wife, Sheila, of Chantilly, Virginia; Joanne Wilcox and her husband, Horace "Chip", of Terryville, and Penny Young and her husband, William, of Glastonbury; eight grandchildren, Krista Maloney and her husband, Michael, Gregory Barnum and his wife, Dina, Stephanie Gorman and her husband, Sean, Shawna Shriner and her husband, Jeffrey, Jared Barnum and his wife, Laura, Jessica Alvarez and her husband, Alexander, Kenneth Barnum and his wife, Kirsten, and Rebecca Lyman and her husband, Kris; and eleven great-grandchildren, Clayton, Brooke, and Preston Maloney, Mia Gorman, Olivia Barnum, Dustin and Henry Shriner, Hunter, Lucy, and Kellen Barnum, and Alexander Alvarez, Jr. He also leaves many relatives and good friends who loved and respected him.

Friends may call at Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike, Canton, on Thursday, July 31, 2014 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 1, 2014 10:15 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, Collinsville.
Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Middletown.
