Raymond F. Hartl, 86, of Lebanon, died Monday in Lebanon.

He was born in Crane, Mont., to Arthur Z and Ora (Hull) Hartl. He was raised in Sydney, Mont., and graduated from Sydney High School.

Raymond served in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945, during World War II. Following his discharge, he followed his family to Lebanon.

He married Geraldine M. "Jerry" Armstrong on May 11, 1968.

Raymond worked at U.S. Plywood for many years before getting his real estate brokers license.

He owned his own firm, Hartl Real Estate, for 21 years before retiring in 1980. He was a member of the Lebanon Elks Lodge and American Legion. He loved working in his garden, riding horses, square dancing and playing cribbage, having achieved several 29 hands in his lifetime.

He is survived by wife Jerry; brother Gene Hartl and son Bob Armstrong, all of Lebanon; daughters Georgine Tome of Redmond, Georgia VanNortwick of Idaho and Terry Hunt of Arizona; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. A son, Jim Armstrong, and three sisters preceded him in death.

Viewing will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Huston-Jost Funeral Home. A service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Huston-Jost Funeral Home.

Private burial will be in the Lebanon IOOF Cemetery.
