Frederick Louis Mahle, son of Johann Christian Mahle and Maria Heidl, married twice.  His first marriage was to Eleanora M Cress, daughter of George Cress and Mary E Zuppan.  Fred and Eleanora were married 8 Sep 1886 in Hancock county, IL.  To this union three sons were born:  George Cress Mahle 1888-1974, Arthur Edwin 1893-1962 and Eugene Harold 1896-1970.  Eleanora, also known as 'Ella', died in 1898. Fred married Ella's sister Laura A Cress on 8 Mar 1899 in Chicago, Cook, IL. Laura raised her sister's three sons as her own.
