Clarence E. Gwin, 88, of Amarillo died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Memorial Park Cemetery East Mausoleum with Jerry McAllister officiating. Entombment will be by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40.

Clarence was born Dec. 1, 1921, in Alpine. He was a World War II veteran and a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church. His favorite book was the Bible. He was a longtime Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers fan. Clarence enjoyed fishing, camping and water skiing with his family and vacationing in the mountains.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Bertha Gwin; two brothers, Cecil and J.R. Gwin; and four sisters, Margaret Smith, Jessie Lee Weaver, Faye Kyzer and Eula Mae Carver.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel Gwin; a son, Jim Gwin and wife Bonnie of Amarillo; a daughter, Janis McAllister and husband Jerry of Woodward, Okla.; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorials be sent to Odyssey Healthcare, 6900 W. Interstate 40, Suite 150, Amarillo, TX 79106.
