David Garth Houchins, age 79, of Wilmington, DE formerly of Chester PA, died on July 18, 2014 at the Regal Heights Medical Facility.

He graduated Chester High school in 1953, and attended Temple University, studying art and architecture, after serving for seven years in the United States Air Force. He worked in the Construction Industry after his honorable discharge, and then became a lithographer for RK Graphics in Bryn Mawr, PA. After retiring in 2000, he worked part time at the Target store in the Brandywine Commons until retiring again in 2013.

He is predeceased by his wife, Josephine (Joanne) Houchins (nee Proth) of 50 years. He is survived by his daughter, Mary Jo and her husband, Ronald Bock and his two grandchildren, Mark David and Sarah Josephine, all of Wilmington, DE.

A funeral service will be Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at 12noon at Gebhart Funeral Home, 3401 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703, were friends may visit with the family beginning at 11 am. Burial will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE.
