Merle Hillegas, 72, of Berlin RD 1, died Dec. 16, 1973, in Somerset Community Hospital. Born Feb. 14, 1904, in Fairhope Township, he was a son of Daniel and Myrtle (Adams) Hillegas.
Surviving are his wife, the former Edna Martz, and these children:Mrs. James (Fae) Mitchell of Erie; Mrs. Clifford (Dorothy) Mostoller, Somerset RD 5; Charles, Berlin RD 1; Mrs. Claire (Helen) Walker, Somerset; Mrs. Dean (Jean) Hillegass of Mountain Lake, N.J.; Mrs. Robert (Thelma) Gohn of Stoystown RD 3; Mrs. Karl (Shirley) Einig,Lewisburg; Mrs. Donald (Kay) Blough, Shrewsbury; and Mrs. David (Donna) Antenucci, Mechanicsburg; 20 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Ray, Berlin RD 3, Glendon, Berlin RD 1; and Clarence of Fairhope RD 1.
He was a member of Berlin Brethren Church.
Funeral service was held Wednesday morning in Johnson and Son Funeral Home, Berlin, with Rev. Ralph E. Mills and Rev. Harold V. Seese officiating. Interment in Berlin IOOF Cemetery.
