Mrs. Ruth Shiflett Brock, 71, 819 Floyd Springs Rd., Rte. 1, Armuchee, died suddenly Monday morning at the residence following a heart attack.

Mrs. Brock was born in Floyd County, April 12, 1912, daughter of Myrtle Elizabeth Rogers Barker and the late Rufus Manuel Barker. She lived in Lindale for 15 years, moving to Armuchee in 1962. For 24 years she was employed by Celanese Fibres Co., and prior to her retirement had worked for Tallatoona Community Action Agency and the Nutrition Center. She was a member of the New Armuchee Baptist Church, Floyd Springs Chapter No. 443, O.E.S.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Marvin Shiflett, Oct. 2, 1967.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Lee Brock, Armuchee; one son, Robert Lamar Shiflett, Armuchee; three daughters, Mrs. Joe (Loraine) Momon, Rome; Ms. Patty Pierce, Lindale, Mrs. Tommy (Marlene) Shores, Silver Creek; one step-daughter, Mrs. Earl (Violet) Collins, Rome; mother, Mrs. Myrtle Barker, Rome; two brothers, Rufus Barker and Leo Barker, both of Rome; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Heritage Chapel of Jennings Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Stephens and Parnick Jennings, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will include Joey Momon, Mike Pierce, David Barton, Lidelle Hare, Kim Canada, and Bob Barker.
