KING, RUBY NELL CHURCHWELL, 87, died Sunday, Jan. 29th, 2006 after a lengthy illness. She was preceeded in death by her husband, William Jennings in 2004, after 67 years of marriage. Born May 13, 1918 she was adopted from Hope Cottage by L. H. and Lola May Holley Churchwell, Kemp, Texas. After receiving recognition for being one of four students attending high school without having a single absence or tardiness, Ruby Nell graduated from Adamson High School January, 1937. She married William Jennings King February, 1937 and after living briefly in Louisiana, returned to Dallas (Oak Cliff) where they enjoyed the rest of their lives until the light of her life was called Home in March, 2004. Ruby Nell was a patient, loving, wife, mother and grandmother and was devoted to her family and many friends. As a loving homemaker and excellent cook, she prepared many meals made memorable by her yeast rolls and delicious desserts. She thoroughly enjoyed any opportunity to prepare a special dish for family or church functions where she devoted much of her life and served two terms as President of The UMWS at Brandon Avenue UMC. She could flash her blue-gray eyes when angered, but when she would smile "that smile," one knew that love was in the room. Those who hold her in their memories are her children and their families: William H. King, Pam and Ken Witherspoon; Ramona and Larry Simons; grandchildren, William Robert King Dolehite, Jennifer Jo King Dolehite, Stacey Lynn Busby and husband Jeremy; Cordon Jennings Simons, Brook Darcy Simons; great-grandchildren, Kristen Nicole Busby and Corbin William Simons.
