Services were Saturday in Tessendorf Mortuary in Onaga for Hazel Gurtler Witham, 99, Topeka, who died Wednesday January 5, 1994, at a Topeka nursing home. Mrs. Witham had worked for several years in Menninger Foundation food service. she earlier worked for Leamer Mercantile in Onaga for several years.
She was born February 5, 1894 at Onaga the daughter of Wesley and Dora Schwartz Gurtler and was graduated in 1912 from Onaga High school.
She was married to Curtis E. Witham February 6, 1940. They farmed near Holton until January 1944 when they moved to Topeka. He died December 8, 1949.
Survivors include two step sons, Leslie Witham, Bonner Springs, and Claude Witham, Kansas City, Ks.,; and several nieces and nephews. Burial was in Onaga cemetery.
