He was born in Gainesville, FL on June 5, 1944, and was preceded in death by his parents, George and Doris Dansby, and his brothers Bill and Bob Dansby.
Scott retired from the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company after 31 years. He was past President of the Alachua Lion's Club, past Zone Chairman of the Lion's, past President of the Lion's Sight and Hearing Foundation, and a member of the NE Florida Lions Hearing Aid Bank. He was also a past member of the Gator Baseball Dugout Club, and past president of the Santa Fe Little League Assoc. Mr. Dansby also served on the board for Citizens For a Better Alachua, and the Alachua Recreation Board. He was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Alachua, where he served as an elder, Clerk of Session, and sang in the choir.
He enjoyed working in his yard, feeding wild birds, and growing and giving away his tomatoes. Most of all he loved his family and could not wait to hear his grand kids call him "Papa Scott". He was a very loving husband, father and grandfather.
Mr. Dansby is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Donna Gatrell Dansby, his son Jonathan Gatrell Dansby (Cheryl), grandchildren, Heather, Siarra, and Chad Stockdale, sisters Martha Sue Smith (Fred) of Arlington, TX, George Ann Ball (John) of Jacksonville, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 25, 2014 at the First Presbyterian Church of Alachua, 14623 NW 140th Street Alachua, FL. Interment will be private at the Millwood Cemetery in Reddick, FL.
