James L. Banks, 56, of Parsons, died at 12:59 p.m., Monday, July 21, 2014 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

He was born November 24, 1957 in Parsons, Kansas to Lawrence E. and Darliene Laverne (Love) Banks.

He grew up and attended school in Parsons and was a 1975 graduate of Parsons High School.

Following high school, he entered the United States Army where he was stationed in Korea and Germany.

Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Parsons where he had lived since.

He had worked as a laborer at Dayton Superior in Parsons. He enjoyed watching football and was an avid KU Jayhawk basketball fan.

Survivors include his companion, Willetta Wilson, of the home; his mother, Darliene Banks, of Parsons; two stepsons, Mark McClelland and his wife, Kailee, of Parsons, and Phillip Wilson and his wife, Misha of Joplin, MO; one stepdaughter, Crystal Witty and her husband, Taylor of Parsons, eleven grandchildren; one brother, Robert Allmon and his wife, Wanda, of Discovery Bay, CA; three sisters, Anna Jackson and her husband, Mike, of Parsons, Ava Cheaves of Belleville, IL, and Kathy Warner and her husband, Brian, of St. Louis, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews.
