The ceremony was witnessed by her sister, Mrs. Annie Spangler, and her nephew, Benjamin Spangler, of Littlestown. "Mrs. Clara A. Hemler Riley, aged 71, died Sunday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Averill Simpson, 419 Third St., Hanover. She was a daughter of the late Anthony J. and Mary Catherine Hemler Smith, and was born Apr 22, 1867.

"Surviving are five children, Mrs. Emma Sheely, York; William A. Hemler, Baltimore; Mrs. James Baker, Hanover; Mrs. Frank O'Donnell, Port Carbon and Mrs. Averill Simpson, with whom she resided, 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four brothers, Benjamin Smith, York; Leo and Clarence Smith, Hanover, and Edward Smith, Littlestown, and three sisters, Mrs. James Millhimes, New Chester; Mrs. Annie Spangler, Littlestown, and Mrs. Maurice Sanders, Hanover.

"Funeral Wednesday morning with services at 9 o'clock in St. Vincent's Catholic Church, Third St., Hanover, with the rector, Rev. William Huygen, officiating. Burial in the Conewago Chapel cemetery."
