WEST ALEXANDRIA - J. Alvin (Pete) James, 57, former district manager for the Dayton Power and Light company here, died at 4 a.m. yesterday in St. Elizabeth hospital, Dayton, after a long illness.
Mr. James was forced to retire some time ago because of a heart ailment. He resided at 63 North Main street and was a 25-year employe of the DP&L. He had been active in civic affairs here.
A World War I veteran, Mr. James was a member of the American Legion here. He also was active in the local E&R church, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday.
Burial will be in Sugar Grove cemetery here. Friends may call at the Zimmerman funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow and at the church after noon on Monday. Masonic memorial services will be held at the funeral home at 8:30 p.m. tomorrow.
Mr. James had been active in the Masonic lodge here and was a member of the Scottish Rite in Dayton. He also was affiliated with the Eaton Rotary club.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothea; a daughter, Judy Marie, at home, and several nieces and nephews.
