Florence May Dean-Laurence, 89, of Rockford, passed away peacefully Friday, July 18, 2014 in her home, with her loving brother by her side. Born April 13, 1925 in Rockford, to Ernest and Anna (Vindhurst) Jackson. Florence lived her entire life in the 300 block of Burbank Ave. She married Clarence Dean in 1944 and later married Gerald Laurence on July 3, 1964 in Rockford. Florence loved to travel the 48 states, Canada, and Mexico, and camping with her husband Gerald. She was a den mother for her 2 sons' Boy Scout pack. She worked diligently with both, helping them to achieve their Eagle Scout. She worked in several factories finally retiring from Amerock. She was an auxiliary member of the VFW local 9759 and a die-hard Cub fan.

Survivors include her brothers, Jerry Jackson of Camby, IN, and Phillip Jackson of Machesney Park, IL; grandson, Ken Dean of Tampa, FL; great-grandaughter, Taylor McGoarty of Richmond Hill, GA; sister-in-law, Donna Jackson of Camby, IN; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; step-daughter, Penny (Bob) Nunez of Rockford, IL; and many step-sons.

Predeceased by her parents; sister, June Jenkins; brothers, Dale and Terry Jackson; husbands, Gerald Laurence, and Clarence Dean; sons, Dennis and Donald Dean; grandchildren, Tammy and Cindy.

Funeral service 2 p.m. Thursday, July 23, 2014 at Advantage Funeral Home, 7000 W. State St., Rockford. Minister Shirley Bondurant officiating. Visitation 1 p.m. till the time of service.

Interment in Willwood Burial Park.
