Born January 2, 1921, in Poplar Springs, SC, daughter of the late Joseph Marion Knighton and Mattie Ellen Cannady Knighton; widow of William Gaffney Arthur.
A great mom, loved to cook for her family, and was a member of Roebuck Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Wayne Arthur (Sheryl) and Gary Arthur (Robin); seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Also predeceased by a son, Larry William Arthur (9 Aug 1940 – 2 Apr 2008); daughter-in-law, Martha Gayle “Sissy” Long Arthur (20 Jul 1939 – 15 Jul 1995); and eight brothers and sisters, Lillie Mae Knighton Hyatt (1902–1984), Marion Joseph Knighton (1904–1987), Jonas Thomas Knighton (1906–1974), Louise Knighton Kirby (1909–2008), Pauline Knighton Tucker (1911–2007), Blanche Knighton Carrigan (1913–2001), Loree Knighton Weir (1914–1984), and William Franklin Knighton (1917–1945).
Graveside service conducted at 11:00 AM, Thursday, November 10, 2016, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Spartanburg, SC, by the Rev. Dr. Tim Williams.
Visitation followed at the graveside.
