Elderly Turkey Resident Dies Early Saturday

Funeral services for William Jackson Montgomery, 83, were held at the First Baptist Church in Turkey Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m.

Mr. Montgomery, a retired farmer, died at his home in Turkey early Saturday morning.

Rev. P.A. Powell of Goodnight officiated at the last rites. Burial was in Turkey Cemetery with Murphy-Spicer Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Curtis Tunnell, H. Lacey, Leonard Lusk, John Lane, Jess Johnston and Lee Parker.

Flower bearers were Mmes. Leonard Lusk, Lee Parker, John Lane, Curtis Tunnel, H. Lacey and Marion Whittington.

Mr. Montgomery was born on May 7, 1867, in Velpin [sic], Ind. He was married at Denison on Aug. 5, 1894, and the family moved to Turkey in 1934. Mrs. Montgomery preceded him in death in 1946.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. J.F. Owen, of Ballinger, and three sons: Charlie Montgomery, Guymon, Okla., Johnnie Montgomery, Turkey, and Leroy Montgomery, Bois [sic] City, Okla.

Two brothers survive: Alex Montgomery of Amarillo and Geo. Montgomery of Matador.

Also surviving are six sisters, Mrs. S.A. Parson, Anadarko, Okla., Mrs. C.B. Rogers, Littlefield, Mrs. Alice McGee, Shawnee, Okla., Mrs. Robert McGee, Hereford, Mrs. Lottie Bullin, Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Mellie Parson, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Other survivors include nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
