Cornelia was the daughter of
Capt. Jacob Rutsen (1716-1750)
& Alida Livingston (1716–1798)
She was bapt in Reformed Church Poughkeepsie (The Flats) Dutchess, NY May 31, 1746.

Cornelia was married to Robert Van Rensselaer
shortly after April 23, 1765, the date they obtained a marriage License.

Robert Van Rensselaer was the son of John Van Rensselaer and Engeltje Livingston. He was bapt in the Albany Reformed Dutch Church, Albany, NY, December 05, 1740.

Cornelia was the mother of eight children, all of whom lived to maturity.


Catharine Pawling, of Rhinebeck Precinct,in Duchess County, NY made her will dated October 9, 1753.

To my granddaughter, Cornelia Rutsen, daughter of my son, Jacob Rutsen, deceased, enough of the income to be used "to give her a good Living and a handsome Education and other accomplishments suitable to a woman of her fortune."
