He was born on April 27, 1852 in San Antonio, Texas and came to Bloomington, Illinois with his parents when he was 2 years of age.
in 1873 Charles Kadgihn married Miss Eizabeth Fitzenberger, who survived along with one daughter, Mrs. M. B. Scott of Kewanee, Illinois.
Also surviving were two brothers, Herman Kadgihn of Bloomington, Illinois and Henry Kadgihn of Cedar Rapids; and two sisters, Mrs. L. W. Anderson of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Peter Hodler of Bloomington, Illinois.
In 1871 Mr. Kadgihn engaged in the shoe business and later on in the restaurant business. Prior to his death he was connected with the Alton Railroad shops.
Mr. Kadgihn was a well known musician being connected with Kadel's band and Hasting's band. For many years he played the clarinet at the Durley Theater.
His funeral and burial were held on February 27, 1914.
