Herbert Sheppard Sims, age 56, of 48 Clearview Homes, Savannah, Georgia died Friday, September 2, 1966, at Memorial Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia from a self-inflected wound. He was a native of Rincon, Georgia and had lived in Savannah, Georgia for a number of years. Herbert was a member of the First Baptist Church in Rincon, Georgia and was retired from the maintenance department of Clearview Homes. Survivors were his wife, Mrs. Annie Lee Prince Sims; a son, Herbert S. Sims, Jr.; his mother Mrs. Emma Sims; a sister, Mrs. Maude Killorin of Yellow Bluff, Georgia; two brothers, John E. Sims of Albany Georgia and Harry Sims of Rincon, Georgia.

Funeral services were held Sunday, September 4, 1966; 1:30 p.m. Rev. J. Barry Owens, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Rincon officiated. Herbert will be buried in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Savannah. Pallbearers are W.L. Merriman, Quentin R. Killorin, C.E. Henderson, Jr., Lee E. Mock, John Robertson, and Lee E. Chapman.
