Jane Duett Hall was born to George Duett (1791 – 1864) and Eleanor Carpenter in Singleborough, Buckinghamshire, England on 20 April 1817. She was the fourth child of thirteen.

Jane moved to Islington, Middlesex when she was about twenty years old. At the time Islington was about two miles from London (it is now in the heart of Greater London). On 12 Aug 1839 she was married to Daniel Hall Jr (1813 – 1884) at the St. Pancras Parish Chapel.

To this marriage eight children were born, though only three of the children lived to adulthood:

Ann Maria Hall (1840 – 1916)
Ellen Sarah Hall (1843 – 1847)
Charlotte Jane Hall (1845 – 1850)
Ephraim Joseph Hall (1848 – 1862)
Eleanor Sarah Hall (1850 – 1920)
Joshua Felix Hall (1852 – 1852)
Rachel Elizabeth Hall (1852 – 1852)
Lydia Esther Hall (1854 – 1935)

Jane and Daniel were converted by Mormon missionaries around 1851 and after Jane's death in 1855 Daniel remarried, and along with his wife Ann, Jane's surviving children, Ann's son born to a previous relationship, and Daniel and Jane's daughter Rachel, the family migrated to Utah in 1862. Jane and Daniel's son Ephraim died during the journey, as did Daniel's brother George who followed them two years later.

Jane was buried in the Victoria Park Cemetery in August 1855.
