Note: This burial was located in the files of Pennsylvania Veterans Burial Cards. The name on the headstone was given as Mike Coddy. It was noted served in the Civil War (Union Army) and had a G.A.R. marker. No birth or death dates were given. The contributor was Shed Wilson on 3/17/1934. Shed served as the sexton for Mount Olive for 25 years.

Michael Bryte Caudy was the son of James Henshaw/Hancher Caudy and Katherine Bryte. His sister Lavina died in 1843. Two sisters are also buried in Mount Olive, Hannah Caudy Halfhill and Mary Ann Caudy Swink . Sister Margaret Caudy Etling's interment details are not known. Brother William Thomas Caudy was interred in Keslar Cemetery. The John H. Caudy buried in Hill Grove is probably his brother.

Michael married Lavina Eicher, daughter of Abraham and Mary Freeman Eicher . Michael and Lavina were living with her parents in Bullskin Township in 1860 along with their son George. His parents and siblings were also living in Bullskin Township.

Lavina's mother died in 1860 and her father in 1862. Michael's father died before the 1870 census so his mother Katherine was living with them. George died between 1860 and 1870 but the family now included five additional children, Mary Catherine, William, Daniel Boone, Simon Frank and Susan.

Exact dates cannot be confirmed but Michael died about 1873 in Bullskin Township. Lavina married again to a Charles William Green and the family moved to West Virginia.

According to a history of Fayette County Michael B. Caudy served as both an assessor and a constable in Connellsville. Civil War Service is confirmed by his inclusion in the 1890 Veterans Schedule for Braxton County, West Virginia. The specific image was not available so no details are known.
