Shirley Rose (Flynn) DeJong, age 95, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Grand Rapids, MI, passed into the presence of Jesus Christ, her Savior, at Sarah A. Todd Memorial Home in Carlisle on Tuesday, July 15, 2014. Shirley was born on Thursday, February 6, 1919 in Grand Rapids, MI to the late Ernest Flynn and Mary (Cushman) Flynn. Shirley was the widow of Marion Edward DeJong. In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley is preceded in death by her son, Mark DeJong.

Shirley's survivors include her children: Ronald DeJong and his wife, Doris, of Cedar Springs, MI, Sharon Commons and her husband, Bill, of Mechanicsburg; her 7 grandchildren; her 17 great-grandchildren; her 4 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Shirley lived in the Grand Rapids area for 93 years, until she moved to Mechanicsburg and was cared for by her daughter, Sharon. Shirley was an active member of Grace Community Church in Hudsonville, MI for well over 50 years. She loved her family and church, and was a faithful servant of Jesus Christ whom she loved most of all.
