Mrs. Raymond (Emma) McCardle, 80, died October 21, in the local hospital. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. today, Wednesday, October 24 in Trinity Lutheran Church, Cooperstown.
Emma Skjoiten was born at Northwood July 22, 1904 to the late Pedar and Aagot Skjoiten. She was baptized and confirmed in that community. she grew up and attended school and graduated from Northwood High School. She attended Mayville Teachers College and Valley City Teachers College, and taught in rural schools in Grand Forks County, Kidder County and at Minot.
She was married to Raymond McCardle June 11, 1928 at Grand Forks. They moved to Griggs County in 1936 and farmed north of town until 1967 when they moved to Cooperstown.
Mrs. McCardle served on the Griggs County Welfare Board for 25 years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was also active in the Trinity ALCW.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, Curtis of Aneta and Roger, Oakland, Calif.; a brother, Gustav Skjoiten, Hatton; a sister, Mrs. Selma Gronaas, McVille; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Three brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.
