Curry Yancey Died Sunday In Fitzgerald
Friends and relatives in Jackson and Butts county were sorry to know of the death of Curry G. Yancey, 51 years of age, which occurred Sunday morning at 11 o'clock at his home in Fitzgerald after a short illness. Recently he had taken treatment in a Fitzgerald hospital and at Emory University in Atlanta.
Born and reared in Butts county, Mr. Yancey was a son of the late Mrs. Ludye Barnes Yancey and John Waters Yancey. About twenty years ago he removed to Fitzgerald for residence and had been employed in the AB&A Railroad shops. He was a member of the First Methodist church, the Elks and Brotherhood of Railway Machinists.
Surviving are his wife, the former Miss Rosa Maddox of Butts county; two sons, Winfred of Douglas and Arthur of Mercer University; one granddaughter, Rosemary Yancey; three sisters, Mrs. Henry Bankston and Mrs. W. C. Redman of Jackson, and Mrs. H. H. Greer of Fitzgerald.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 5 o'clock at the Methodist church in Fitzgerald. Burial was in the family lot in the Fitzgerald cemetery.
Relatives from here attending the funeral were Mrs. Henry Bankston, J. D. Bankston, Mrs. H. L. Bankston, Mrs. Austin Mills, Mrs. J. O. Preston, Mr. and Mrs. Grady Redman, W. C. Redman, C. R. Long, Misses Sara and Eloise Redman, Mrs. Prentice Hodges and Leslie Preston.
