William H. Stanfield was a Corporal in Company H, 2nd. Tennessee Infantry during the Civil War.His last name was spelled "Stanfill" many times on several different records.

I have never found a death record for him, so the next closest document I found is the first photo which is a record of headstones provided for deceased Union Civil War Veterans though there is so specific name for the place of burial, the exact description says "at or near Williamsburg, KY".

The second photo is their marriage record dated 28 May 1857 in Campbell County, TN.

The third photo is probably him though I am not completely sure so that is why I said probably because there are always those who would rather argue than work together when it comes to data like this, the widow is listed as Rachel though the surviving child is named Samson, could this be their son Joe's middle name and if so why is their daughter Elizabeth not listed as a surviving child as well.

The bottom photo shows an 1860 census record where he is age 19, married to wife Rachel and they have one child a daughter named Elizabeth born about 1859 so after Harrison dies I have no data on what happened to Rachel or their child Elizabeth.

Also on this census record, he is dwelling #914 and right below him on the very next line is his neighbor/parents dwelling #915 Sampson & Rhoda with their other children.

Note - Their son Joe named his own son "Harrison" so his grandson was his namesake.
Suggested edit: William's father Sampson was made guardian of the children William had with Rachel in September 1868. Prior to that, she was the recipient of his pension, but she remarried in July 1868 to William Lay, so I suppose Sampson was made guardian to oversee the pension for the children. Rachel had three more children with William Lay; Pryor (b. 1870), Lucinda (b. 1872), and Julia (b. 1874).
