Peter P. Sychak, 90, of Lyndora passed away Friday at Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Born on June 28, 1924, in Butler, he was a son of the late Wallace and Anna Dano Sychak.
He retired from Armco in 1986, where he worked in the blacksmith shop, after 43 years service.
He was a member of the Saint John Byzantine Catholic Church in Lyndora. He was also a lifetime member of the Hill Sportsman Club, a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 778 in Lyndora and a member of the Summit Sportsman Club and the NRA.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time in the outdoors. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Martha L. Barr Sychak, whom he married on June 16, 1951; his children, Robert M. (Elizabeth) Sychak of Butler, Susie (Jim) Jarvie of Florida and Lee Ann (Ricky) Kradel of Butler; his four grandchildren, Kelsey, Ryan and Aaron Kradel, and Jennifer Sychak; his step-granddaughter, Kelley (Tom) Collins; his three step-great-granddaughters, Lauren, Allison and Savannah Dunning; and his numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his five brothers and his four sisters.
Sychak- The friends of Peter P. Sychak, who passed away Friday, July 11, 2014, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.
A Parastas service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Saint John Byzantine Catholic Church, 105 Kohler Ave., Lyndora, with the Rev. Leo Schlosser, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Butler County Memorial Park.
