NATIVE OF ENGLAND DIES IN SALT LAKE


William Bricker, 84 years of age, a resident of Utah since 1866, died yesterday morning at his home in Poplar Grove. Funeral arrangements have not been announced.

Mr. Bricker was born in Southwick & lived in Studley Green, near Trowbridge, Wiltshire, England. When 14 years of age he was apprenticed to a coach maker and followed the trade for several years. He came to America in 1851, settling in Lowell, Mass., going from there to St. Louis in 1852. He was early converted to the Mormon faith and in 1855 served a mission among the Cherokee and Creek Indians. After some years of mission work in Nebraska he returned to his native home in England, remaining there until the close of the Civil War, when he came to Utah. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Sarah Goff Bricker, two sons, three daughters and twenty-nine grandchildren.
