A memorial service will be held Feb. 11 for Frederick D. "Fred" Haase of Eugene, who died Feb. 5 of age-related causes. He was 84.

He was born April 11, 1921, in Colorado Springs, Colo., to Charles and Willow Cambell Haase. He married Anne Bolton 65 years ago in Colorado Springs.

A graduate of Syracuse University, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps occupation force in Japan during World War II. He was an A-20 Havoc gunner. He worked at The Register-Guard for 35 years. He enjoyed offset printing at home and was interested in the World War II memorial. He was a member of the Odd Fellows, First Methodist Church and the Boy Scouts of America.

Haase served on the Eugene Airport Commission, the Bethel School Budget Committee and on the Oregon Trail Council Boy Scouts of America.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Fredrick of Anchorage, Don and Dennis, both of Eugene, and Dale of Springfield; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Saturday's service will be held at 3 p.m. at the Odd Fellows Hall in Eugene. Andreason's Cremation & Burial Service in Eugene is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to Kidsports or Boy Scouts of America.
