Ruth Helen was born in Lubbock County on March 14, 1920 and attended Lubbock High School and graduated from New Deal High School. She married Tony H. Rieken on Jan. 24, 1937. They farmed and ranched in the New Deal area.
Ruth Helen's joyful spirit and strong character were inspirations to all who knew her. She was active in the New Deal Church of Christ, was a Girl Scout leader, was a member of the New Deal Home Demonstration Club, and RSVP at Texas Tech University. She worked at Dunlaps and Hempill-Wells in Lubbock and as a beautician in New Deal. She and Tony enjoyed traveling, especially in Colorado with their grandchildren, and at their cabin in Ruidoso, N.M.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Tony Rieken; parents, Alonzo Earnest Greenhill and Artie Metia Collier Greenhill; and her brother, Horace Lee Greenhill.
The family will receive friends at Abell Funeral Home from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the memorial service at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, at Abell Funeral Home, in Abernathy. Burial will be at the Abernathy Cemetery following the services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Lubbock Children's Home
