Betty Jane Wortham Bowers Barham entered rest in the arms of her Savior on Saturday, July 12, 2014. Betty was saved through Child Evangelism at age 29, where she introduced and passed along a legacy of knowing Jesus, walking in His way and trusting in His plans and purposes. Her life was a testimony to the power and faithfulness of our Lord. She was not ashamed of the gospel and spoke with enthusiasm of God's love and the blessed assurance through relationship with Him, even answering the phone, "Jesus loves you! Isn't that good news?" She was an active member of Bellevue Baptist Church, where she worked in the bookstore for many years.

Widow of Robert Norris Barham and loving mother of Jeanne Bowers Rodgers (Philip) of West Memphis, AR; Judy Bowers Didier of Atlanta, GA; Sonny Bowers of Memphis, TN; Barbara "Tot" Barham Wallace (Jeff) of Mesa, AZ; David Barham (Melinda) of Brenham, TX; and Andrew Barham of Memphis, TN. She had 17 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

The family will hold a service at the Bellevue Baptist Chapel on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at 11 AM to celebrate her life and God's unending faithfulness.

Visitation will precede the service at 10 AM and a private burial will follow.

"She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her. Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all. Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears The Lord is to be praised. Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate." Proverbs 31:27-31
