NANCY ANN ALLEN BONE, age 68, a resident of Cape Girardeau formerly of Charleston, died Thursday, July 10, 2014, at the Ratliff Care Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born July 24, 1945 in Fort Benning, GA to the late Ollie James and Dorothy Ann Drennan Allen.

A graduate of Charleston High School, she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Education with emphasis in science from Southeast Missouri State University, and a Masters degree in Administration from William Woods College. She taught in Meadow Heights, Delta and Cape Girardeau public schools and was an adjunct professor for Southeast Missouri State University and was the recipient of several awards including the Edna C. Kinder Award for Excellence in Teaching and Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce Educator of the Year. In 2007 she was the recipient of the Cape Public School Foundation Teacher Grant. Her educational involvements outside the classroom included Science Fair, Science Olympiad, Science Department Chair, Renaissance program, and her application to NASA for space travel. Prior to being a member and organist for the Eisleben Lutheran Church in Scott City, she had served as organist for other congregations. Though her hobbies included playing the piano, growing flowers, gardening and canning, cooking, sewing, water and jet sking, and traveling; nothing surpassed her love for family, friends, and her pets.

Comments regarding Nancy from her peers speak of her adventurous spirit, ingenuity, creative approach from motivating students to assembling a rocket and flying it. A God fearing woman, she had high standards and expectations balanced with a big heart, and was courageous in the face of adversities.

In 1964 she married James H. Bone, father of her children, who survives in Charleston.

Also surviving are four children, Mark (Sondra) Bone of Somonauk IL, Jannifer (Rodney) Johnson of Ellington, Carl (Tracee) Bone of Charleston, and Ben (Robin) Bone of Fayetteville, OH; ten grandchildren, Brooke (Chris) Wilson, Blair (Paul) Lindstrom, Brynn (Drew) Hallman, Hannah Johnson, MollyAnn Johnson, Beau Everette Bone, Ashton Bone, Dalton Bone, Payton Bone, and Colton Bone; and 7 great grandchildren; and her special friend, Bruce Hacker of Cape Girardeau.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, James Allen.

Visitation will be held at McMikle Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 13, 2014. Funeral services will be conducted in the Eisleben Lutheran Church in Scott City at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 14, 2014 with the pastor, Rev. Marty Hasz, officiating.

Pallbearers will be Mark Bone, Carl Bone, Ben Bone, Rodney Johnson, Dalton Bone, and Colton Bone.

Interment will follow in the Eisleben Church Cemetery under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.
