Ellen R. (Lee) Leighton, 92 of Walpole died February 9 in Caritas Norwood Hospital. Born in Lyndonville, Vermont, October 21, 1915, the daughter of the late Fern Henry and Margaret Mary (Moore) Lee, Mrs. Leighton was raised and educated in Medway and had lived in Walpole since 1956. A graduate of Medway High School, she held the record for highest scorer on the Medway Girls Basketball team for over 50 years. Mrs. Leighton had worked for several years at John Hancock Insurance Company, Kendall Mills, the Walpole Woodworkers, Wrentham Court and the Factory Mutual Company. She was the fastest typist in a pool of 200, and worked until the age of 75. She was a practicing Christian Scientist. She is survived by 3 sons and 2 daughters, Robert Leighton and his wife, Lori of Orlando, Florida, Darlene and her husband, Scott Privott of Wilmington NC, Mark Leighton of Wrentham, Susan Leighton of Plainville and Eric Leighton of Walpole. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Lee of Newton, brothers Fred Lee of Palm Beach, Florida, George Lee of Medway, Carlisle Lee of Mendon and Robert Lee of Orlando, Florida. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. Her funeral service will be held on Friday, February 15 in the Ginley Funeral Home, 892 Main St. in Walpole at 10:00a.m. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Millis. Calling hours will be on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers,expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the Massachusetts Humane Society Box 890127 , East Weymouth Ma 02189.
