FORMER CROOKSVILLE MAN DIES AT NEWARK
John Allen, 77, former resident of Crooksville, died last night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. O. L. Roberts, in Newark.
He had resided in Newark for the past nine years. He was born in Perry County and spent most of his life in Crooksville. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jeremiah Allen. He was a member of Crooksville E. U. B. church.
Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Roberts at whose home he died; Mrs. John Strohl of Mt. Perry; Mrs. Floyd Pratt and Mrs. Earl Cooper, both of New Lexington, and Mrs. Alfred D. Morian of Oakland, Calif.; a son, Harold Allen of Columbus; 21 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren; a brother, David of Deavertown and a sister, Mrs. Meda Coulter, Niles, O.
His wife, Edna Russell Allen, died in 1944.
Prayer services will be held at 8 o'clock Wednesday evening at Criss Brothers funeral chapel in Newark. The body will be removed to the Crooksville E. U. B. church where it may be viewed from 1 until 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon. Services will be held at 2 o'clock with Rev. O. F. Gibbs officiating and burial in Crooksville Cemetery.
