LaForrest L. Butterfield, 83, died Tuesday at a Centralia hospital following a brief illness.

He was born May 25, 1891, at Bunker Creek, and had been a lifetime resident of this area. He was a logger prior to his retirement.

Survivors include his widow, Irene M., at home; three sons, Ben, Centralia; Larry, Seattle, and Richard, Tennessee; four daughters, Mrs. Marion (Dorothy) Guidici, Georgetown, Calif.; Mrs. George (Francis) Vernard, and Mrs. Roy (Marie) Costa, both of Auburn, and Mrs. Paul (Annette) LeMargie, Seattle; two brothers, Wyman Butterfield, Longview, and Gus Butterfield, Centralia; two sisters, Mrs. Maude Rupert, Centralia, and Mrs. Eve Webster, Medford, Ore., 21 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
