Mrs. John B. Rinker Dies in Anderson Hospital
Mrs. Nellie Rinker, 37, wife of John B. Rinker, prominent Monroe Township farmer, died at St. John's hospital, Anderson, last night at 10:30 o'clock following a two weeks illness with peritonitis.
Mrs. Rinker was taken to the hospital several days ago for treatment. She did not however, respond to the treatment and death occurred last night.
Mrs. Rinker was born and reared in the neighborhood of Perkinsville, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Noah E. Shetterly, now of Cicero. During her life she was engaged as a schoolteacher at Perkinsville. She was a graduate of the Lapel high school and a member of the Epworth M. E. church.
Mrs. Rinker, during her residence in this vicinity, she had come to be highly regarded by all who knew her and her untimely death sadden the hearts of her many friends.
Besides her husband and parents, the deceased is survived by four children; Albert 11, Donald, 10, Joan, 5, Robert, 3; two brothers, Lloyd Shetterly, of Cicero, and Gradison (Gradeon) Shetterly, of Pendleton, and two sisters, Mrs. Edith Johnson, R.R. 2 Alexandria, and Mrs. Bessie Newton, of Cicero, also survive.
The remains were brought to the Davis and Strickler funeral home here where they were prepared for burial, later being taken to the late home four miles east of the city where they may be viewed by friends.
Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at the Perkinsville M. E. church, in charge will be the Rev. Wilbur Thorne. Short services will be held at the late home at 12:30 o'clock. Burial will be made in the Perkinsville cemetery.
Nellie was a primary school teacher at Jackson Township school No. 4 and was listed in the Directory of Teacher and School Officials of Madison County Indiana for the year 1916-1917.
