Memorial services for Billie "Bill" Eugene Moore, 86, of Hobbs, NM will be held on Monday, July 14, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Jefferson Street Church of Christ with Thom Moore officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Billie was born in Seymour, Texas on June 9, 1928 to Albert P. and Cora Ann (Peek) Moore, the youngest of four children, and passed away on July 10, 2014 in Hobbs, NM. He married Pat Hagan in Lovington on June 20, 1953 and they recently celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary. He had been a resident of Hobbs since 1956 where he was employed by the US Postal Service for thirty six years. Billie was raised on a farm and worked as a machinist helper and operator/co-owner of a service station until finding the Postal Service upon his Honorable Discharge from the US Army. He was the local distributor for the Lubbock Avalanche Journal for over 25 years, as well as owner of Southwest Pool Service for several years. He allowed himself little free time, but when he did he enjoyed arrowhead hunting off the caprock near Maljamar, NM and working around the house making repairs and caring for the yard. In the mid-70;s he and Pat tore down the old Lester's Café, cleaned the brick and built their retirement home in Cloudcroft, NM. Bad knees interfered with that dream and required the selling of the home before either of them could retire and enjoy it. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Albert Edgar and Samuel Carlos Moore. He is survived by his wife Patsy "Pat" of the home, one daughter: Cynthia "Cindy" Ann and husband Rick Lanning of Midland, TX and one grandson: Peter James Botes III of Las Vegas, NV, as well as several nieces and nephews.
