Early Life: Joyce was born March 24, 1930, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Alvin Dwight and Gladys Margaret Anderson Bates.
Life's Work/Service/Interests: On May 22, 1948, she married Shirley Lee Neel in Elko, Nevada. Theirs was a love story for the ages. They loved to dance and were often the most elegant couple on a dance floor. Gladys Joyce Bates Neel, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away at her home in Lehi, Utah, on July 8, 2014. She was 84.
Survived By: Her children: Shirley Lee (Yvonne) Neel, Taylorsville; Cynthia Joyce Neel, Lehi; and Asa Dwight “Danny” Neel, Lehi; 22 grandchildren; an abundance of great-grandchildren, and many others that she considered her own.
Preceded In Death By: Her husband, Shirley Lee Neel; her daughter, Echo Dawn Neel; her parents; her brother, Burlin Bates; and her daughter-in-law, Madge Black Neel.
