She was born to Edward L. and Alvera Rosalee Lucas Short in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on September 24, 1936. She was an Army wife and mother, and was a member of the Lutheran Church. She was a member of the AARP, Local #2078, where she served as secretary-treasurer for many years. She loved family and was very knowledgeable in family ancestry. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and history. Joan had a special love for all animals.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, Edward Short, Charles Lantz, Arlene Randazzi, and Barbara Short, and her husband of over 58 years, Billy Kiser.
She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, GayLynn Kiser of Austin, Texas, and Jennifer and Bobby Bagley of De Queen, a granddaughter, Chrystal Morgan Sweeden of De Queen, a special friend, Amy Ragle of De Queen, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Joan Kiser will be held at 10:00 A.M., Sunday, July 13th in Redmen Cemetery with Rev. Shane Haarmeyer officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.
