OBITUARY.

DIED, at his residence in this District, on Friday evening the 27th June, Mr. WILLIAM A. BUSSEY, of Typhoid Fever, aged thirty-eight years.

The disease, which he bore with Christian fortitude, was very severe, though of short duration. He has left a wife and five small children, an aged father, three brothers, two sisters, and many relations and friends to mourn his loss.—He was a kind and affectionate husband, a devoted parent, an indulgent master, and an obliging neighbor. The Baptist Church at Red Oak Grove has lost a pious, worthy member. The humble writer of this imperfect notice, was well acquainted with him, and hopes never to forget some of the expressions he used at the time of his conversion. He said that he was utterly astonished, that the world could not see and feel that there was a reality in the religion of Jesus Christ. He had been a member for about twenty years and was naturally a delightful vocalist. The Church has therefore lost his valuable services in that particular.

During his last illness he called his companion to the bed side, and told her that he had been pleading with his maker to spare his life, but he was made to feel and believe that he must die, that he saw his way clear, and that the Lord had promised to be a father to the fatherless, and that he must go. He is gone and we are going,—let us all try to meet him in Heaven.

—Published in Edgefield Advertiser (Edgefield, South Carolina), July 10, 1851, p. 3.

NOTE: Place of burial not known, but he was a member of this church.
