Funeral services will be held Friday, July 11, 2014 at a 1:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for John Al Richard, Sr., age 67, who passed away Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette.
Interment will be in St. John Berchmans Cemetery in Cankton. The Rev. Msgr. Russell Harrington, pastor of St. John Berchmans Catholic Church in Cankton, will officiate at the services.
Mr. Richard was a native of Church Point and lived most of his life in Vatican.
Survivors include his wife, Stella Miller Richard; two daughters, Eilean Begnaud and her husband, Marcus and Briggette Richard and her significant other, Nicholas Mtanyos; one son, John Richard, Jr.; eleven grandchildren, Mindy Breaux, Samantha Martinez and her husband, Samuel, Philip Richard, Joshua Begnaud and his wife, Caitlan, Bethany Richard, Sean Richard, Hayden Louviere, Michelle Richard, Dustin Richard, Rebecca Richard and Grace Guidry; five great grandchildren, Trever Breaux, Riley Martinez, Karson Breaux, Colton Martinez and Olivia Martinez; seven sisters, Rose Meche and her husband, Raye, Irene Meche, Doris Braus and her husband, Wayne, Brenda Hoback and her husband, Bobby, Sherry LeBlanc and her husband, Wayne, Melissa Guidry and her husband, Byron, and Lisa Bernard and her husband, T-June; and two brothers, Joseph "Cookie" Richard and his significant other, Trish Stelly; and Michael Richard and his wife, Karen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Dermas Richard and the former, Effie McBride, both natives of Lafayette; his sister, Cynthia Ann Bernard; one brother, Darrell James Richard; two brothers-in-law, Gerald James Meche, Sr. and Steve Prejean; and two nephews, Gerald James Meche, Jr. and Jason Matthew Meche.
Pallbearers will be John Richard, Jr., Mark Begnaud, Josh Begnaud, Sean Richard, Dustin Richard and Nick Mtanyos.
